WINTER BOOT CAMP FOR

PILOT SEASON 2010

Los Angeles, California

A comprehensive training program for both beginners and seasoned young actors who want to maximize opportunities for success in 2010

 

INSTRUCTORS tentatively scheduled for this program include

Casting Directors Deborah Dion, Cathy Reinking and Stephen Snyder,

D.G.A. directors Mary Lou Belli and Tom Logan, as well as YPS core instructors Richard Liedle, Rachel Glenn and Ingrid Shaw

 

Age groups are 6-9,  10- 13  and 14  &  older

 

LEVEL ONE classes are designed for beginners or those young actors who have not been consistently getting callbacks and booking . These foundation classes will strengthen skills and enable actors to improve skills as well as take more advanced classes. Completion of these sessions enables you to take LEVEL ONE – Act 2 sessions or go into LEVEL TWO depending on age and class formats.

 

LEVEL TWO CLASSES REQUIRE completion of LEVEL ONE sessions

 

AUDITION DYNAMICS—Understanding the process and perception of casting.

  Outlines the audition process from start to finish—submission to booking.  Mock auditions to teach and reinforce needed skills with on-camera practice and review.

This program includes a session just for the parents as well!

A fast-paced and humorous approach to teaching and reinforcing the basics of commercial auditions,

The BUSINESS OF THE BUSINESS SEMINAR  12:30 – 2:00 p.m.            FEE: $35.00

 This seminar is designed for the parents of younger actors as well as those actors 10 and older. With 3 decades of experience in this industry as a child actor, adult actor and director, Tom Logan has acquired a TON of information to share that will explain what happens behind casting doors, how casting decisions are made, etc.

 

The fee for the seminar& the on-camera session is reduced to $100 -

one parent may join actor enrolled for this.

For those who have completed at least two sessions with Tom Logan – this session will focus on film acting,

Understanding camera shots and angles, how to work with a scene partner on camera, being believeable and real.

CHARACTER DYNAMICS – understanding back stories and character attributes

Using a blend of actor exercises, improvisation and scripted scenes, actors will learn how to develop strong,  believable characters for film and television.   Taught by Rachel Glenn

MASTERING SIT-COM AUDITIONS – with Casting Director CATHY REINKING, c.s.a

Veteran casting professional for sitcoms such as Frasier, Cheers, According to Jim and more will work on camera with actors to help them understand the dynamics of TV sit com auditions.        FEE:   $85.00

LAYERING & SUBTLETIES OF FILM WORK - with Casting Director, Deborah Dion

 

Deborah Dion has cast many young actors, some with virtually no major credits before working on major films directed by Tim Burton, M. Night Shyamalan and other greats… a quiet and patientdirector of actors, she peels back the layers to find the truth in their performance.

Award winning Casting Director Stephen Snyder has a rough exterior but a gentle heart and his students love working with him. Direct and tough, he challenges actors to “step up” and stretch themselves, take risks and make strong choices but he can also bring laughter &  fun to class!

Philip Brown is a wonderfully fun and and informative instructor who will mix it up with improv, actor exercises and scripted scene work as he guides each actor through a process to sharpen their acting and audition skills and to develop a better understanding of the business of the business. Be prepared mentally, physically and professionally to do the best work casters will see! His workshop is especially useful for those who will be auditioning for Disney, Nickelodeon and ABC Family Networks.

                YPS MINI BOOT CAMP

            January 22 – 25, 2009

It’s a new year and it’s time to get those skills sharpened up in hopes of booking some great guest star roles or better yet  - A  PILOT! It’s a busy commercial season also so good reason to refine those on-camera and commercial skills and it’s always important to be ready for improv! We realize that a couple of these sessions may not work well for kids enrolled in regular school program but if you can get out early or part of a day on Thursday or Friday, it will be worth the extra effort to do so!

 

The YOUNG PERFORMERS MANAGEMENT GROUP continues to be recognized as one of the strongest groups of young talent in L.A.  Our clients book many many commercials -- we almost always have at least 25 or more commercials airing each month-- and our clients include a number of  recurring  & series regular roles, leads in feature films such as GYM TEACHER, BRING IT ON CINCO, TOOTH FAIRY , BURNING PALMS, FAME as well as many guest star roles on shows like CSI, Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, Eli Stone, My Name is Earl, and a number of other shows.
